Valdeorras presented its activities of open doors of 7 and 8 June in Santiago de Compostela

The last Monday, day 26,Turismo de Galicia presented in Hostal Reis Católicos in Santiago, the III Jornadas de puertas abiertas in the Galician 5 denominations of origin. Valdeorras promoted in this Act, through the President of the Regulatory Council, Jose Luis Garcia Pando, the activities that will take place on 7 and 8 June in the region. In the presentation the President thanked Turismo de Galicia by the organisation of this Conference and its economic support to carry them out. He stressed that this year in the region valdeorresa there are many activities organized by some members of the Ruta do Viño de Valdeorras, collective known as Somos Valdeorras, puertas abiertas.

Garcia Pando invited to all lovers of the world of wine on 7 and 8 June come to Valdeorras. He explained that there will be visits to wineries with free transportation, party open doors in O Barco  and in A Rúa and special prices on menus and accommodation in the wine route catering located in O Barco, A Rúa, Vilamartín and Sobradelo establishments.

The President of the regulatory Council recalled that in Valdeorras “we are beginning in the world of wine and have a lot to offer”. He stressed that “we offer wine, history and landscape of interior with very special characteristics”. In his speech he described the landscape of high mountains, valleys and rivers, in which places are as the Sierra de La Lastra, a space protected with Mediterranean forests; and a forest of yew trees, as the Teixadal, unique in the South of Europe, tucked away in the foothills of the highest peak in Galicia: Pena Trevinca (2127 m); or a combination of the Sil River with its tributaries. He also added that this landscape history of the area marked by the Roman presence and the construction of Via XVIII or Via Nova binds to Braga with Astorga and that today leaves us a bridge as of the Bibei to unite the lands of Manzaneda and Trives and Valdeorras.

In terms of the programme of activities of the 7 and 8 days, Garcia Pando recounted that a group of 11 wineries in the wine route, located in O Barco, Rubiá, Vilamartín, A Rúa and Petin, will open its doors, for a few hours, offering free wine and a snack visitors. Those interested can visit them in the order you want or you also have the option to take a free bus, accompanied by a guide, these two themes-funded Turismo de Galicia. This option (bus and Guide) will allow you to visit the 11 wineries in three routes, two in the morning and afternoon of Saturday and one on Sunday morning.

OPEN DOORS PARTIES IN O BARCO AND A RUA

In addition to these free tours, they will also have the opportunity to taste wines at two festivals, one in the village of O Barco and another in A Rúa. Saturday 7 in the evening, starting at 20:30 hours, there will be a party open doors on the promenade of Malecón of O Barco to enjoy the Sil River and take wines and bar snacks to a euro each.  Other festive activities will serve to complete the days getting to know some of the typical “covas” of the region, Underground cellars in the village of A Rúa. It will be on Sunday at noon and the wine from the wineries participating will again be present to be able to taste it with some snacks, to  1 € each, accompanied by the Galician traditional music.
