Valdeorras begins the harvest picking grapes for a sparkling

The first Winery of Valdeorras begin harvest this year was Roandi. It started this morning picking grapes for its sparkling, the first elaborated with godello covered by the DO Valdeorras. In total will be around 35000 kilograms of grape godello collected in the vineyards of the estate “Os forroxancos”, area of gold extraction in Roman times, located in the village barquense of Entoma. One of the owners of the winery, Rogelio Moral, explains that this year they have “Grapes of high quality both in white ink and the reasons start as soon is because the State of the grape, according to our technician, was on the point just to make our sparkling”. Once collected the grapes, the method of elaboration of this sparkling wine will be the traditional or “champanoise”, and says Rogelio Moral “experts indicate that last crop we are improving it”.

Although this Winery is already harvesting to the sparkling, vintage will officially open in Valdeorras on September 1 and for that day already it is scheduled to start the winery Godeval, also of O Barco, one of the first to open campaign every year. In this case also for collection of godello variety but for making wine. The campaign is scheduled to end in the month of October, marking the Council regulator of Valdeorras day 26 as the final date for regular harvest control. This means that from 1 September until October 26, provided there are wineries harvesting, the observers will have a schedule of work for the control of grape wineries entering from 9 in the morning until 10 da night, seven days a week. This was the agreement that was adopted in the plenary session held last Monday, 25th, to vintage 2014 campaign dates and times. It also recalls the need that wineries alert you 48 hours in advance beginning of collection of grape to program from this organism control in each one of them works from the Council.
