Futures Galician learn about wine sommeliers and names Valdeorras

Students in the Advanced Course in Santiago Sommelier received this week about the history of the denomination of origin Valdeorras and tasted some of their wines to meet its aromas and flavors. The second edition of this course organized by the Instituto Galego do Viño has on its agenda with a presentation to the students of the features of each Denomination Galician. This week is the turn to wine and of Valdeorras responsible for telling your story has been the technical director of the Regulatory Council, Jorge Mazaira. In his class, two-hour meeting in the library of the City of Culture, began explaining the history of the denomination, its preferred authorized varieties and then went on to the practical part. On tasting the 24 students were able to appreciate the different vintages godellos where Jorge Mazaira highlighted the aging potential of the wine tasting godello the years 2007.2009, 2012 and 2013. Then proved the Mencías’s Names castes and also that surprised attendees for the blend between preferred varieties (Mencia, brancellao, Sousón and caíño).

Students were surprised both by the ability godellos aging, aromas of Mencías’s Names and harmony of castes. In the section of questions they were interested in the future of the denomination to which Jorge Mazaira predicted good prospects based on quality certification and focusing on recovering the preferred varieties like brancellao, Sousón and caíño.
