The denomination of origin of Valdeorras doubles its sales abroad

Exports of the denomination of origin of Valdeorras spent 1,210 hectolitres in 2007 to 2,636 in 2012.

In this period of time, new markets have been opened at the same time that have been consolidated several existing markets.

The D.O. Valdeorras recorded a significant growth of sales abroad, specifically between 2007 and 2012, the cellars of the D.O.Valdeorras have doubled sales. To do this, have intensified efforts in the internationalization of the D.O.Valdeorras wines.

The Valdeorras is situated in the northeastern part of the province of Ourense , occupying vineyard area of concellos Larouro , Petín , O Bolo , A Rúa, Vilamartín , O Barco, Rubiá and Carballeda de Valdeorras . It stretches over 1,157 hectares , where about 1,500 growers working with a production of over 5.3 million kilos of grapes. Each year produced more than 4 million liters of wine, with an estimated per season of about 18 million euros .

The internationalization of wine is an important aid to the tourism sector of the region .

These figures make me optimistic both the wine industry and promoting tourism in the region, through the internationalization of its wines.
